The Moss Vale & District Basketball Association Inc. has received $18,460 from the NSW Government’s 2025 Community Building Partnership Program (CBP) to upgrade the Moss Vale Basketball Stadium carpark paving and to install drainage.
Originally built in 1971 and extended in 1983 through volunteer labour and donated materials, the stadium has long been a cornerstone for local sport and community activity. The latest upgrade will improve the carpark functionality allowing effective line marking and further installing much needed drainage infrastructure.
Member for Goulburn, Wendy Tuckerman MP, said:
“I’m delighted that Moss Vale Basketball has secured this funding to improve their much-loved stadium.
This project will not only ensure better conditions for players and supporters travelling to the stadium but will also extend the longevity of the current carpark by providing improved drainage – a real win for the community.
Congratulations to Chairman, David Watts and Moss Vale & District Basketball Association for their commitment to maintaining and improving this important local facility.”
Moss Vale & District Basketball Association Director of Assets, Peter Mitchell, said:
“This funding will make a big difference for our club and everyone who uses the stadium. The facility was built by the community more than 50 years ago, and these improvements will help us ensure it continues to serve the ever-growing local competition. We’re very grateful for this support.”
Mrs Tuckerman also attended a recent meeting with the Association in support of the Lackey Park Regional Sports Hub proposal, which includes plans for a Southern Highlands Indoor Sports Hub (SHISH). The proposal has been in development for more than 20 years and would deliver a state-of-the-art facility with four multipurpose indoor courts and space for community sport and events.
Since 2009, the Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 22,400 community projects across NSW. Grants of between $10,000 and $100,000 support not-for-profit organisations and councils to deliver projects that strengthen communities.
