The new purpose-built headquarters for the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) Moss Vale Unit and Wingecarribee Animal Shelter are both taking shape, with the projects progressing steadily ahead of their expected mid-year completions.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman joined Wingecarribee Shire Council Mayor Jesse Fitzpatrick to visit the site on Bowman Road, Moss Vale, alongside Council General Manager Lisa Miscamble, Director of Service and Project Delivery Clinton McAlister, to inspect the progress firsthand.
The multi-million dollar facility is being constructed by Puch Building & Construction Pty Ltd and is jointly funded by the NSW Government and Wingecarribee Shire Council. Once complete, it will deliver state-of-the-art infrastructure to support critical emergency response and animal care services in the Southern Highlands.
The SES Headquarters is on track to be officially opened on Saturday, 14 June 2025. Designed to better support local emergency operations, the facility will include increased storage capacity, dedicated parking for emergency vehicles, and high-quality operational amenities. It will also house training space, communications equipment, and room for specialist vehicles and rescue equipment.
The Wingecarribee Animal Shelter, which will share the site, is also progressing well. While a specific opening date is yet to be confirmed, it is expected to be completed by mid-2025. The new shelter will replace the ageing facility at the Resource Recovery Centre and provide significantly improved conditions for animals in care and those awaiting adoption.
Council engaged the contractor in mid-2023, and major construction milestones have since been achieved, including slab pours, structural framing, roofing, and ongoing installation of essential services.
