Our healthcare system is going backwards and it’s patients who are paying the price.
- Nurses are picketing Parliament.
- Psychiatrists are resigning en masse.
- The health budget has been cut two years in a row.
- Elective surgery wait times have blown out to peak COVID levels.
Labor’s industrial chaos is spilling over. I and the rest of the Opposition don’t want to see these strikes go ahead. It is deeply disappointing that the Labor Government has let it get to this point.
The Premier should be putting patients first, not politics, and sitting down with doctors immediately to resolve this crisis.
If you are experiencing a health emergency, call 000 or go to a hospital – care is still available.
For non-emergency issues, call Healthdirect on 1800 022 222 – a registered nurse can provide fast, free advice and help you find the care you need.
It shouldn’t have come to this. NSW patients deserve better.
