The NSW Independent Planning Commission (IPC) has determined to refuse consent to the Moss Vale Plastics Recycling Facility.
This decision brings immense relief to every person in our community who has fought tirelessly for this outcome over the past four years.
It is clear that the substantial effort made by the community to highlight the legitimate concerns about the proposal’s impacts have been carefully considered by the IPC.
I commend the 2,809 individuals who lodged submissions opposing the project – your voices were critical in achieving this momentous result and I extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you.
The fact remains that the NSW Planning Department advised that this project would be approvable and I will be calling for an inquiry into this decision.
The IPC has detailed their due consideration, acknowledging the community’s concerns and determined that it was not a suitable location for such a facility.
This outcome demonstrates clearly what the community has been saying the entire time.
It was not the right site.
