IMPROVING MOBILITY FOR GROWING ABILITIES

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman is proud to announce that the NSW Government has awarded a $24,000 grant from the Community Building Partnership (CBP) program to Growing Abilities Goulburn.

“This funding has been used towards the purchase of a new vehicle specifically designed to transport people living with a disability who are accessing the services offered by Growing Abilities in Goulburn and the Southern Highlands,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

As a registered NDIS provider, Growing Abilities is dedicated to empowering individuals through education and support, helping them achieve their fullest potential. The organisation operates under Challenge Southern Highlands and serves the local community with various horticultural products, including Australian native plants, herbs, vegetables, and gardening supplies.

“Receiving this grant is a significant milestone for us,” said Tony McElhinney,

General Manager of Challenge Southern Highlands, who operates the division of the Growing Abilities program.

“The new vehicle will greatly enhance our ability to transport clients and provide them with the support they need.”

Growing Abilities is a not-for-profit organisation, meaning that every purchase made at their nursery contributes directly to providing employment, horticultural training, and social inclusion for people living with disabilities.

The organisation invites volunteers of all ages and abilities, including NDIS participants, to join their team. Opportunities include plant propagation, gardening tasks, and customer service, with no prior skills required.

In addition, Growing Abilities hosts a Friday afternoon art session, where participants can engage in group art projects in a fun and accepting environment.
