Crookwell Public School will benefit from $300,000 in funding to support the construction of a new Adventure Playground at the school, under the NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grants program.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said the funding will enable Crookwell Public School to begin construction of a new playground for the school.
“This is a terrific project that the school has developed with holistic education and inclusivity in mind – and looks incredibly fun”.
Crookwell Public School staff and P&C President, Steph L’Estrange, thanked the NSW Government for the funding.
“The new playground aims to create an outdoor recreation space for the entire community. The vision is to build something to support holistic outdoor education and we have had many stakeholders across the community collaborate in the playground’s design. Thank you to all those involved.
“The anticipated use of the playground extends far beyond just the students, we hope that out-of-hours school care as well as occupational or therapeutic services will be able to use the playground too.
“The aim is that the adventure playground becomes a vital hub for development, socialisation, education and recreation for young people in the area, as Crookwell Public School’s playground will be open to the public on weekends and school holidays for family enjoyment,” Ms L’Estrange said.
Mrs Tuckerman said Infrastructure Grants are an important part of supporting the local economy and supporting community projects.
Infrastructure Grants are made possible through the NSW Government’s ClubGrants Category 3 Fund, which reinvests a contribution from the state’s registered clubs’ gaming machine profits back into community projects.
“These grants are helping the entire Goulburn electorate, but with two projects in Crookwell, I am delighted for the town towards boosting active outdoor recreation.”
Since 2013, the NSW Government has funded over 536 community projects worth $105 million under the Infrastructure Grants program.
Applications for the next round of funding open are now open until Monday 22 November.
