Work to conserve Tallong’s War Memorial and Yass Soldiers Memorial Hall will commence thanks to a funding injection from the NSW Government’s $125,000 Community War Memorial Fund.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman welcomed the investment in the two local landmarks.
“Our region has a proud military history and I’m thrilled to see locals actively working to conserve sites that recognise this service and sacrifice,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
“Both the Tallong War Memorial and Yass Soldiers Memorial Hall hold special significance to our communities so I am pleased to see this investment by the State Government.
“The projects each received funding, with $7,500 to Goulburn Mulwaree Council to undertake conservation works to the memorial’s mortar in Tallong and $10,000 to Yass Valley Council towards the conservation effort at Yass Soldiers Memorial Hall,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
Applications for the 2023/24 grant program are currently open, and close on 25 July.
“I encourage all communities to visit and check the status of their local war memorials and apply for funding for any restoration work that is needed,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
