NEW MINISTER OPENS GOULBURN MRI – FROM SYDNEY

The Goulburn community will benefit from state-of-the-art diagnostic technology with the opening of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) service, as part of the $165 million Goulburn Hospital and Health Service Redevelopment.

NSW Labor Minister for Health Ryan Park “launched” the MRI service from his Parliament House office in Sydney today.

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman was shocked to learn the news through the media release, after waiting anxiously for the expected commencement date of the MRI service.

“I am particularly disappointed on behalf of the community, everyone has been waiting for the MRI, and to be kept in the dark by the new Health Minister to announce this vital service with a press release from his parliamentary office in Sydney – I am devastated for everyone who joined me in fighting for this service.

“I am now trying to get permission to organise an opening that includes everyone and celebrates the fact that we now have an operating MRI in the hospital, particularly for all the staff and community that was involved in this hard-fought acquisition.

Mr Park’s media release said that the first inpatient MRI scans took place at Goulburn Hospital this week, and the service will open to outpatients in the coming weeks.

“Having MRI services here in Goulburn means people don’t need to travel,” Mr Park said, with the complementing video filmed in his NSW Parliament office.
