$150,000 NSW GOVERNMENT INVESTMENT HELPS SHAPE TAFE NSW MOSS VALE’S LOCAL BOILERMAKERS

New welding machines at TAFE NSW Moss Vale will help shape the next generation of boilermakers, as part of a $150,000 NSW Government investment to upgrade facilities and teaching equipment for students and staff.

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said it brings the recent investment in TAFE NSW Moss Vale to $1.4 million with the campus recently receiving two Connected Learning Points.

“A welder or boilermaker really needs to know the tools of the trade to get the job done, and this latest NSW Government investment in TAFE NSW Moss Vale gives students an edge as they embark on their careers in construction,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

“We’re talking about $150,000 for new welding machines to support the delivery of in-demand boiler-making and welding skills training for our next generation of workers in Moss Vale.

Member for Wollondilly Nathaniel Smith said the Connected Learning Points at TAFE NSW Moss Vale support virtual learning, new computers and welding helmets.

“It demonstrates the NSW Government’s commitment to providing locals with the fit-for-purpose learning spaces they need to build their skills and get jobs,” Mr Smith said.

“From new computers to welding helmets, students at TAFE NSW Moss Vale are getting real-life hands-on experience they wouldn’t have access to anywhere else.”

Minister for Skills and Training Alister Henskens said the NSW Government is leading the nation in supporting people to get the skills they need for the jobs they want, which is helping grow the economy, securing a brighter future for the people of NSW.

“TAFE NSW trains 45 per cent of government funded TAFE students in Australia. It is the nation’s largest and best training provider, and we have invested record funding in TAFE NSW to ensure it continues to deliver a pipeline of skilled and job-ready workers,” Mr Henskens said.

“Our record skills budget is delivering more fee-free training which is helping people find in-demand jobs and contributing to NSW’s low unemployment rate.”
