A SLAM DUNK FOR SPORT IN MOSS VALE

A $546,000 NSW Government investment to upgrade Moss Vale Basketball Stadium and the Southern Highlights Indoor Sports Hub is complete, paving the way for the next wave of regional basketballers.

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said the upgraded amenities include an improved FIBA-compliant playing surface, retractable backboards, as well as a refurbishment of the main office and referees’ room.

“The NSW Government is committed to improving access to sporting facilities across regional NSW for everyone to enjoy,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

“The upgrades to the stadium floor and backboards bring the facility up to FIBA standard, meaning more Basketball NSW tournaments can be played here.

“The multi-use line marking for basketball, netball, volleyball, and badminton will allow many clubs, schools and community groups to utilise this renewed space.

“As the upgraded stadium opens its doors once again, I look forward to welcoming both locals and visitors alike to the Southern Highlands, as we continue to grow sport across the State.”

The Moss Vale Basketball Stadium upgrade was funded through the NSW Government’s Regional Sport Facility Fund.

Minister for Sport Alister Henskens said the NSW Government aims to support the development of high quality and well-designed sports centres and stadiums to help increase both professional and recreational participation.

“The improvements to Moss Vale Basketball Stadium provides the community and local sporting groups with better access to fit-for-purpose facilities that will meet current and future needs of the region ,” Mr Henskens said.

“The NSW Government is investing in local communities to help create spaces and facilities that enable communities to keep healthy and active, as well as stimulate the local economy and create new jobs.”
