MRI UPDATE

People may already be aware; the new Clinical Services Building at the Goulburn Base Hospital Redevelopment includes a dedicated space for the MRI. This facility will be delivered as part of the final works stage, which is currently under way.

The news that we have all been waiting for is that the procurement of the MRI machine has been finalised and Health Infrastructure is coordinating delivery and installation with the supplier including fit-out of the shell space.

The MRI machine is expected to be fully operational by early 2023.

Again I thank our Federal Member, Angus Taylor who alongside the LHD, ensured the security of Medicare for the MRI which will ensure bulk billing is available for patients accessing this service.

The NSW Government is investing $165 million to redevelop the Goulburn Hospital and Health Service. Construction for the final works stage is expected to be completed by late 2023.

As part of the 2021-22 State Budget, the NSW Government announced an additional $15 million in funding to enhance clinical services which will be delivered as part of the redevelopment, including the purchase and installation of an MRI machine.
