Work on the new Yass High School multipurpose hall will soon be underway with the Member for Goulburn, Wendy Tuckerman turning the sod to mark start of construction.
The new hall will include a full size basketball court, storage and amenities for the community to use.
Mrs Tuckerman said these great new facilities will benefit the local community for generations to come.
“School halls are the natural gathering point for students and staff, and they can also be a vital part of a thriving local community.
“I look forward to watching construction progress and seeing the finished product,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said the upgrade will deliver modern facilities for students.
“We are making the largest investment in public education infrastructure by any NSW Government.
This includes building new schools, but also upgrading existing facilities to enhance the educational environment for students across the state.
“We want our children to have the best education possible, and providing high-quality school facilities is a key part of that,” Ms Mitchell said.
The NSW Government is investing $7.9 billion over the next four years, continuing its program to deliver 215 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
