Bushfire affected businesses and communities in the Goulburn electorate are being encouraged to apply for a share of the $250 million Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund which has now been extended to give peace of mind to those needing assistance.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said applications for the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund will be extended to 28 January, 2021, in order to give communities more time to prepare their applications at a time when they most need support.
“The $250 million Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund was designed to give communities and industries in bushfire impacted regions access to grants to develop local infrastructure and initiatives that will drive economic and social recovery, and help communities get back on their feet,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
“We are creating vital economic stimulus for communities in the region when it is needed most as well as creating crucial jobs during construction and well into the future.
“Through our record investment in regional infrastructure the NSW Government is ensuring communities that were devastated by bushfires are able to recover with the legacy projects that they will be able to utilise for generations to come.”
Deputy Premier John Barilaro said an additional 12 months has also been provided for successful applicants to deliver their projects, with all projects now to be completed by June 2023.
“We know we need to work with people not against them, and we have heard communities loud and clear. Communities and businesses are still working to re-establish themselves, and for many, it is going to be some time before that is a possibility.
“By extending the deadline we are giving bushfire affected communities the opportunity to plan, develop and deliver the best proposals for projects that will support the social and economic recovery of these regions, and create vital jobs now and into the future,” Mr Barilaro said.
The NSW Government remains committed to supporting everyone who has been impacted by bushfires.
