Students from The Crescent School in Goulburn will be continuing their ride to school and excursions in safety and comfort thanks to the purchase of a new bus organised by The Crescent School P & C Association, funded by the NSW Government.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman today said the NSW Government’s significant $174,823 investment will fully fund the purchase of the new bus.
“The new bus will be used on one of two school bus runs The Crescent School P & C are currently contracted for, picking up and dropping off students in the Goulburn Mulwaree and Upper Lachlan Shire areas.
“The bus will also be used by all the 75 enrolled students at the school for transport during the day to special school events and activities, such as the terrific Riding for the Disabled program.
“I’m delighted that the NSW Government can show extra support to the Crescent School and P & C. The new bus will ensure students at the school are able to enjoy participating in their education and all sorts of social and physical enrichment – outside of the school grounds,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
P & C President Joshua Proudman welcomed the funding from the State Government.
“The existing bus we use for Run #7874 is a Mitsubishi Rosa that was manufactured in October 2006. It was desperately due for an upgrade in the next 12 months as per requirements of the Assisted School Travel Program.
“With this money we will replace the old bus with a new 25-seater bus that will undergo engineering modifications to ensure the requirements of students using it are met,” Mr Proudman said.
The Crescent School is the only School for Specific Purposes (SSP) in the Southern Tablelands with all students requiring transport either to/from school or to special events and excursions. The income raised from this bus run allows the P&C to cover staffing costs and maintenance. It also provides financial assistance to The Crescent School.
