YOU BEAUTY: NEW TAFE NSW MOSS VALE COURSE TO TAP INTO BOOMING INDUSTRY

Highlands locals will have the chance to “brush up” on their skills and launch a career in the booming beauty industry as part of an exciting new course at TAFE NSW Moss Vale.

After extensive consultation with local industry, TAFE NSW Moss Vale has today launched a new Certificate III in Beauty Services for the first time.

It comes as the $6.5 billion Australian beauty industry enjoys 10 years of uninterrupted growth, fuelled in part by the rise of social media.

Ms Tuckerman welcomed the new course and said it would ensure more young people in the Goulburn electorate had the skills to thrive in a changing jobs market.

“This is a wonderful addition to the many courses already offered at TAFE NSW Moss Vale,” Ms Tuckerman said.

“You only have to look around the business districts in the Goulburn electorate to know the beauty industry is booming – it is critical locals have the skills to meet the demand for beauty professionals.

“TAFE NSW has the greatest range of courses to support any career and currently provides courses for nine of the 10 occupations predicted to have the greatest jobs growth over the next five years.”

Ms Tuckerman said the Certificate III in Beauty Services offered an ideal pathway into the industry and included units in health and hygiene; make-up; waxing; eyebrow shaping; spray tanning and nails.

TAFE NSW Head Teacher of Beauty Emma Cook said the course is now on offer due to surging demand for quality graduates in the local industry.

“We’ve consulted with the local beauty industry and they desperately need TAFE NSW to build a pipeline of qualified people to address skill shortages,” Ms Cook said.

“There are so many career pathways this qualification can start you on, everything from working in film and television to working in day spas or cruise ships around the world.

Ms Cook said a condensed version of the course, a Statement of Attainment in Make-Up, will also be offered to local high school students as a TVET (TAFE Delivered Education and Training) course.
