Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman, today announced that aspiring business owners in Wingecarribee Shire, can set up a small business faster and with less hassle, now that the NSW Government’s Easy to do Business program is up and running in Wingecarribee Shire.
More than 100 councils have signed up to the program, which makes it easier for business owners in the cafe, restaurant and small bar industry to engage with all levels of government.
Ms Tuckerman said the decision by Wingecarribee Shire Council to join the program provides a boost to the local dining scene and well-regarded café culture in the local area.
“With Easy to do Business, business owners here in Wingecarribee Shire can now access one digital platform which has all the information they need, call one phone number and start a small business faster, “Mrs Tuckerman said
“Navigating all the rules to start up a café, restaurant or small bar was complicated and time consuming, but this initiative means a small bar could be up and running six months faster.
“Business owners will be able to spend more time planning their business, and
less time on paperwork.”
Wingecarribee Shire Council Mayor Clr Duncan Gair said the Easy to do Business program is a great win for local businesses that will allow entrepreneurs to pursue their business goals more easily.
“We believe that our shire has much to offer businesses of all sizes and we look forward to working with Service NSW and its Easy to do Business program to assist our local and regional business sector industry bodies to deliver a thriving and nationally recognised economy,” Mayor Gair said.
The program includes a personalised digital platform and an over-the-phone
Business Concierge support service. The
Business Concierge team has now helped more than 1500 people start or grow
their business.
The service can help with everything from getting a council development application right the first time, to applying for a liquor licence for a small bar.
Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello congratulated Wingecarribee Shire Council on joining the program.
“Easy to do Business is all about making government easier to navigate for those seeking to start a business. This has been achieved by reducing paperwork, eliminating duplication and enabling concurrent approvals across different regulators,” Mr Dominello said.
“The measure of success is simple. Less time spent dealing with government means more time spent developing your business and faster commencement of operations.”
The initiative is delivered by Service NSW in partnership with the Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner and the Better Regulation Division.
